New Prairie Construction’s commitment to preserving our historic structures has resulted in numerous Heritage Awards from the Preservation and Conservation Association of Champaign County:
- Residential Heritage Award for the exterior restoration of a 1911 home near Carle Park; Urbana, Illinois (2012)
- Residential Heritage Award for the whole house restoration and renovation of a 1929 home near Carle Park; Urbana, Illinois (2011)
- Residential Heritage Award for the renovation of the siding on a 1950s Japanese-style home in Champaign; Illinois (2011)
- Traditional Construction Heritage Award for the construction of the Straw Bale House; Urbana, Illinois (2008)
- Residential Heritage Award for the renovation of West Farmstead; Sidney, Illinois (2008)
- Landmark Heritage Award for the remodel of the McDowell House, an 1874 Victorian Italianate homestead of solid masonry; rural east Illinois (2007)
- Commercial Heritage Award for the remodel of the building housing Robert’s Fine Jewelry (formerly Norman’s Jewelers); downtown Champaign, Illinois (2003)
- Adaptive Use Heritage Award for the phase II renovation of the Orpheum Theatre, now the Orpheum Children’s Science Museum; Champaign, Illinois (2000)
- Heritage Landscape Award for the construction of the pergola behind the former Wilbur Mansion; Old Town Champaign, Illinois (1999)
- Landmark Heritage Award for the renovation of the former Wilbur Mansion; Old Town Champaign, Illinois (1998)
– 2011 YWCA Leadership Award for Business for New Prairie’s commitment to “train, hire, and promote women in the construction industry.”
– Voted “Best General Contractors” by readers of The Octopus and The Paper (Champaign – Urbana’s alternative weeklies) in 1999, 2001, and 2004 (the only years the category was offered).
– In September 2008, New Prairie’s straw bale house in Urbana was featured on 190 North, an eclectic television program out of Chicago. The show featured eco-friendly products and ideas.
